Location

It is located on the left side of the Tbilisi-Sghnakh Highway, 9 km east of the district centre.

Historical Introduction
1842 y․

Numerous archive documents testify that Manav Armenians were incessantly exposed to religious persecution by the Georgian clergy. Thus, in 1842 a Georgian priest named Andreas from the adjacent village of Ninotzminda converted more than 10 Armenians to the Orthodox faith. The Armenians who raised protest against that succeeded in making the priest bear responsibility for what he had done. By the way, before that Andreas had converted an Armenian woman from Chaylur.

1854 y․

An archive document of 1854 states that the village elder dismissed Andre Ghazarian and converted him to the Georgian faith.

Population
1802 y․

The exact date of the Armenian immigrants’ resettlement in the village is unknown, but they are said to be already living there in 1802 together with the Georgians.

An eye-witness who visited Manav in 1896 writes that “The village has many old and new houses with beautiful gardens scattered like an amphitheatre… on that high mountain slope.”
