In 1888 Lagodekh Armenians, who did not spare efforts for their children’s education, applied to the authorities with a request to open a parish school.

Merchant Artem Zurabian’s widow donated 400 roubles for the establishment of a school in memory of her husband, that somehow settling the problem of the school edifice.

The school, which had originally been intended for both males and females, opened in the schoolyear 1893/94 as a men’s institution, with 18 boys and 14 girls having been enlisted.

1896 — 1905 yy․

Sharing the fate of all the other Armenian schools, Lagodekh school did not function in 1896-1905 on a Government order.

The school also worked in the Soviet years, its activity coming to an end in 1932/33.

In 1985-1986 the school building was levelled with the ground, a bath-house being founded in its site.
