Location

Another historical village of the district - Hartek is situated at a distance of 2 km north-east of Projants on a beautiful plateau, surrounded by mountaintops on three sides.

Historical Introduction
13 c․

Hartek is first mentioned in the XIII century, in the list of the Kashunik villages, obliged to pay the tax amounting 10 dahekan (consequently it was a village of medium size).

The nomads that settled here in the 19th century, named the village Alibek, maybe after the name of their tribe leader (the “5 versta” map of 1904 marked it as Alibek), but the historical name of the village was not lost. Besides, the summit (altitude 1280 m) situated 1.5 km south of the village was also called Hartek (Turk. Hartiz). The identity of the present day Hartiz and the historical Hartek is proved.
