Verin Alastan Village Site

Location

The remnants of a medieval village site, known as Verin Alastan (Kharaba), as well as those of a church and a cemetery are preserved on the south-west-facing slope of a gorge, 2.5 kilometres north-west of Alastan.

Historical Introduction
1595 y․

The historical name of this ancient place is consigned to oblivion. Most probably, it is identical to the village of Verin (Upper) Alastan mentioned in the tax list of 1595 as comprising 15 houses and paying a tax of 8,000 akches. The local people customarily refer to it by the name of Kharaba.
