St. Hovhannes Monastery

Location

Half a kilometre north-east of Majadia rises the monastery of St. Hovhannes, which is a most important pilgrimage site for the Armenians of the neighbourhood.

Architectural Description

It represents a uni-nave vaulted monument (exterior dimensions: 7.20 x 4.35 metres) entirely built of finely-dressed stone, with its entrance opening into a hall adjoining it in the south. As of 2006, the sanctuary was preserved standing.
