The church stands in the centre of the village Saghamo.

Both the church standing in the centre of Saghamo (exterior dimensions:` 11.70 x 6.27 metres) and the other one located at the northern extremity of the village have two entrances opening from their western and southern facades. The former is remarkable for its intramural capitals and, particularly, the cross reliefs embellishing the tympanums of both its entrances. The ornaments of these carvings, which resemble each other, have their roots in the tree of life, which is so typical of the art of Armenian cross-stones. The building techniques and stylistic peculiarities of the decoration of the monument trace it back to the period between the 10th and 11th centuries.
