Historical Introduction
1856 — 1860 yy․

As of 1856, the Armenians who had left Ekhtila for Samsar were still deprived of a church, but they wished to erect one through their own means.52 In 1860 mention is made of a local church named Sourb Harutiun.

Earthquakes
1899 y․

The earthquake of 19 December 1899 shook the monument to its very foundations so that it again underwent renovation in the 1900s.

In the late 19th century, the inhabitants of Pokr Samsar found it expedient to reconstruct their old church.
