The gravestone of Sulkhan Bektabekiants (he was buried in front of the western entrance of the church in 1788), which was preserved in situ until the early 1980s, had only a Georgian epitaph:
საქართველოს მეფის ირაკლის ვიც-კანცლერ <მდ>ივანი თავადი სულხან ბეგთაბეგოვი აღ(ვ)ესრულე აგვისტოს ქა უოვ, წე(ლს)ა ჩღკც. Transl.: Vice-Chancellor of Georgian King Heracle, Mdivan and Tavad Sulkhan Begtabegov departed this life in August 476 according to the Chronicon.
