Historical Introduction

In 1916 it functioned on account of the financial assistance of the Armenian Charity Society in Caucasia.

According to another record, meeting the request of Telav Branch of the Armenian Charity Society in Caucasia, Arshak Unaniants committed himself to opening Matan’s school with his own means in January 1917. “Hambavaber”, 1917, N 2, January 15. A parish school for both males and females was founded in the village through the endeavours of priest Khachatur Yezekiants, serving at Telav’s Sourb Astvatzatzin (Holy Virgin) Church.
