In 1889 Nariniants brothers committed themselves to building a bell tower adjoining the church and soon realized it. The following record elucidates this fact further, “Being desperate for a church, Lagodekh’s small but pious Armenian community built a fine stone one with their own means and some outside aid. However, they could not afford to found a belfry, which was temporarily substituted for by some wooden roofing, attached to the western wall of the church. It should be admitted that it is rather ramshackle and unfit for the purpose. Realizing the importance of the bell tower, Nariniants brothers voluntarily promised to found one in the coming spring, according to a plan to be worked out.”
