1818 y․

By 1818 the state of utter collapse had rendered the church totally unusable. With that regard a quotation states, “There is an incomplete church, built of stone and mortar with the people’s own means in the year 1797. The sanctuary, which bears the name of St. Karapet, has four pillars and is 19,5 gazes long and 12,5 gazes wide. At present, however, the secular powers have banned its functioning.” *Gaz is an ancient unit of length, equal to 112 cm.

No mention is made of the church in the following several decades, but beginning with the late 1880s, it was again included in the list of Telav’s Armenian churches by the name of “St. Karapet old church”.
