The church of Surb Grigor (St Geregory the Illuminator) was also preserved. It was a single nave vaulted basilica, built of finely processed stone in 1274 (external dimensions are 6.38x4.40 m).

There were obvious traces of later renovation made by coarse stone in the XVII cent.

Description

Before the liberation of the area, a Kurdish family used this church as the supplemental part of their house. They plastered the western and southern facades of the church and annexed other outhouses.

Inscription, Armenian, Engraved, Construction 1274 y․

The only tympanum of the western facade contained an inscription of five lines:
“I, LORD KHORB, CONSTRUCTED THIS SURE GRIGOR (ST. GREGORY) WITH MY JUST EFFORTS, REMEMBER ME, MY SPOUSE AND MY SON MARGARE IN GOD. YEAR 1274.”

Another inscription on the same facade was read by Barkhutariants:
“IN THE NAME OF GOD I, KUK GAVE THE LAND OF SOSTANES TO THE CONVENT OF SURB GRIGOR THIS THURSDAY, A MASS...”

The inscription on the southern facade of Surb Grigor read:
“WITH THE HELP OF GOD WE, SONS OF TABIB GAVE OUR LAND KAPIN BEHIND? SOSTANES TO SURB GRIGOR: AT THE FEAST OF LASARUS: 1 MASS...”
