1862 y․

It is Telav’s fifth Armenian church, whose construction inscription, now non-existent but, fortunately, copied and published in due time, reads, “...seeing that the numerous inhabitants of the upper quarter did not have their own sanctuary and always went to the city’s church, situated much farther, Mr. Ghagho Tadossiants... first selected a convenient site in the new municipal cemetery, near the spring he himself had built, procured all the building material, had the construction of the new church officially endorsed, and laid its foundations. At a solemn ceremony, held on 30 June and attended by many clergymen, the reverend agent and senior priest Khachatur Sukiassiants consecrated the base of the new church, making a most praiseworthy speech ... .”

Architectural Description
1862 y․

The church, built of brick, cobblestone and mortar, represents a single-nave edifice of a vaulted gable roof, supported from inside by arches, resting on two pairs of pylons. In the east the semi-circular apse can be seen with a vestry on either side. The church, whose exterior dimensions are14,05 x 8,85 m, has three entrances in the west, north and south. The northern wall contains the font, and the western pediment bears a small belfry, ending in a pointed broach. The outer walls represent a colonnade.

A construction inscription used to be carved on a separate stone, fixed into one of the church walls:
Under Russian emperor Alexandre II and in the time of Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Matthew I,in the year 1862 (1311 according to the Armenian calendar),Telav citizen Ghagho Yesayan Tadossiants laid the foundations of the Holy Trinity Church for his sons’ longevity and the salvation of their souls.
