The Armenians who took up residence in the devastated village site in the 1830s founded the church of St. Sahak Partev (Sourb Harutiun) there. Originally, this sanctuary, which represented a stone building with a wooden roof, bore the name of Sourb Harutiun (mentioned in 1839).

1868 — 1869 yy․

This name is found in a great number of archive documents until the year 1868. As for the other name, it came into use only beginning with 1869, which suggests that the sanctuary was reconstructed and re-consecrated between 1868 and 1869 (it was preserved standing as of 2006). The inscription engraved on its western entrance tympanum comes to attest to this.
